Excavation
Planning / Developing Detailed 3D Models
Destiny used GIS and cell-based 3D modeling software to create detailed
excavation models used by the engineering contractor to finely-tune
and monitor excavation activities. Supporting the evaluation of status
and conditions at key milestones, Destiny’s GPS/LPS Specialists
worked closely with field crews to capture precise location data at
select sample points. The location and sample data were then incorporated
into excavation models within 12-hours enabling the early confirmation
that the excavation was complete. Destiny’s fast turnaround and
unique approach introduced a number of time and costs savings. This
included saving the costs of over-excavating, and improving the dispatch
of crews and equipment between sites.
IT
Management and Administration:
Destiny also held a key role managing and administering the site’s
IT infrastructure spanning several contractors and supporting approximately
80 people. This included hardware and software
integration, network configuration and maintenance, establishing and
managing daily back-up procedures, managing the site’s server
network, adding virus protection, trouble-shooting malfunctions, and
establishing a virtual private network (VPN).
Destiny
continues to manage the site’s database, including paper and digital
records, and will steward data management and reporting through a range
of concluding activities.
Because
of Destiny’s service, and due to the savings introduced, Destiny
was awarded additional projects with the site owner, and with several
of the engineering sub-contractors.
